  • Is high-fructose corn syrup on it’s way out? Consumption of HFCS has declined 16% since 2007, but it isn’t all good news – overall sugar intake has risen nearly 10% in the same time period.
  • Viagra as a obesity treatment?!? Research in mice suggests viagra is able to convert white fat cells to more thermogenic brown fat and reduce body inflammation.
  • If you are eating while distracted, try taking smaller bites – researchers in the Netherlands show this might protect against overeating.
  • Want to be calm, happier and have more energy? Eat your veggies and fruit! Positive mood is linked to higher intake of vegetables and fruit in a sample of young adults.
  • Even more reason to eat your spinach if you have a family history of diabetes. In those with a genetic predisposition to developing diabetes, higher levels of beta-carotene may reduce risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Increase your beta-carotene consumption with bright orange veggies, like carrots and squash, and leafy greens like kale.
